Cheap Hill Gun Club started out as a vision of a group of individuals that are currently involved with our youth in the shooting sports. These individuals had a common set of goals and interests. One of the goals was to provide our youth a place of their own to hone their shooting skills. Through hard work and dedication this vision has come to fruition. We now have a facility that we can all proudly call Cheap Hill Gun Club.
We were blessed with landowners such as Tommy and Phyllis Pardue that provided the necessary land to construct this facility. Without them, this vision could certainly not have become a reality. Organizations such as the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the Scholastic Clay Target Program along with several other companies and private individuals have graciously given their time, money and materials for this project.
Objectives of the club include:
- Providing a safe and fun way to enjoy the sport of shooting shotguns.
- Instruction in firearm handling skills
- Establish competitive units (squads) that will participate at the state and national levels, thus fostering state/national amateur competition
- Providing a facility that will be utilized for hunter safety classes, instructional clinics and ministry work
These programs will benefit the community through the demonstration of safe and responsible handling of firearms, and the community will observe participants developing character and citizenship through teamwork. They will also be introduced into the world of shooting sports and develop a lifetime sport that families can enjoy together. Whether they are male or female, hunters or non-hunters, school-aged children or adults, they will benefit from this program and facility.
